Sean O'Kane AIA, Architect P.C. is a six person architectural firm specializing in
custom residential design, new homes, additions, renovations, and historic restoration.
The firm, established in 1986, is located on historic Main Street in Ridgefield, CT.
The office staff consists of three registered architects and two graduate architects
as well as an administrative assistant.
The firm has been featured in publications such as the “Fairfield County Home Magazine”
March 2008 issue. An award winning design was featured on the front cover of the
Perfect Home Series book “Leading Custom Home Builders”, published in October 2006.
The firm’s work has also been featured in “The Connecticut Home Book” and
“Ridgefield Magazine” 2003 winter edition. Sean O’Kane A.I.A has won awards
such as the 2003 AIA CT Alice Washburn Honorable Mention, 2006 AIA CT Alice
Washburn Honorable Mention and the Home Builders Association of Connecticut
Custom Home of the Year 2005.
As well as residential work, Sean O’Kane AIA Architect P.C. enjoys giving back
to the community through pro bono work and recently finished an animal shelter
for cats and dogs in Ridgefield and the firm is currently working with a local
historical society on a project which involves adding onto and restoring an
historic carriage barn designed by the famous architect Cass Gilbert. The
finished facility will be used as a visitors center with display space as well as an
educational facility for visitors to the town and the 18th century tavern/museum.
SEAN O’KANE A.I.A.
President and founder of the firm, Mr. O’Kane received his BSC Architecture from
Queens University Belfast and his graduate degree in 1979 from Heriot Watt University,
Edinburgh Scotland. Mr. O’Kane emigrated to the USA after graduation, working in
New Hampshire on adaptive reuse and historic preservation projects. In 1981 he moved
to Ridgefield, CT and after practicing in Rye with a firm for five years left to establish
his own firm. Mr. O’Kane is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the
Institute for Classical Architecture, and has been a registered architect in Connecticut
since 1983.
RICH ADAMSKI, R.A.
Mr. Adamski received a Bachelor of Architecture in 1986 from the University of
Minnesota- Twin Cities. Before moving to Connecticut in 1993, he worked in a
Minneapolis firm specializing in the restoration of historical buildings. Mr. Adamski
has been a member of the firm since 1994 and is a registered architect in the states
of Connecticut and New York.
GEORGE REIN
A graduate of the Temple University School of Architecture and Engineering in
Philadelphia, PA in 1990, Mr. Rein has been with the firm since August 2000.
CRYSTAL TOBIN CHANDLER A.I.A.
Crystal Chandler received a B.S. in Building Sciences from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
in Troy, New York in 2001. She is a registered architect and a Member of the American
Institute of Architects. She has been with the firm since 2001.
EFI NIZAN
Efi Nizan received a Bachelor in Architecture from the New York Institute of
Technology in 1998. She started her training with Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill
in New York, and joined the firm in 2001.
